SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manufacturing Operations Technician is primarily responsible for inspection of produced material and operation of the production line winders.  This position may also be utilized to assist the Manufacturing Team Leader and Manufacturing Technicians (MFT) with material production in the spinning and bonding processes.  They may also be utilized to assist in the Converting Department.  The Manufacturing Operations Technician must safely and efficiently operate various machinery, ensure products meet customer expectations and assist in identifying and resolving equipment issues. They will also be required to safely move and store material.

Starting Pay: $19.50 per hour

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • High school diploma.
  • Successful completion of initial 90-day probationary period.
  • Computers and keyboarding skills.

Preferred:

  • 1 -3 years recent experience in manufacturing, machine operations and/or mechanical related fields.  Trade school and/or positions held requiring mechanical aptitude.

Inspection Department:

Converting Department:

  • Ensure operation of perforator when necessary.

Spinning Department:

  • Works well with Manufacturing Technicians (MFT), Manufacturing Team Leader and with Plant Leadership.
  • Can safely perform basic spinning duties with guidance from Manufacturing Leader and/or Manufacturing Technicians (MFT).
  • Is able to monitor and record conditions and document process upsets in the logbook.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety:

Functional/Role:

  • Safe, efficient operation of all equipment.
  • Understands and adheres to internal material requirements and customer specifications.
  • Responsible for housekeeping efforts in assigned area(s).
  • Coordinates with Maintenance personnel to resolve equipment-related issues.

  Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Safe operation of the winder.
  • Safe operation of fork and pole trucks.
  • Doffing winder and updating doffs into SFDC.
  • Weighing and moving rolls to the proper locations, and rack management.
  • Communication with the headend in a timely manner regarding
  • Relieve inspectors for all
  • Assist with stringing up lines, line startups, line failures and line clean up.
  • Flagging defects.
  • Making sure downtime is entered accurately into SFDC.
  • Entering of Maintenance tickets as needed.
  • Operating the perforator as instructed.
  • Making sure Inspection has rolls available to inspect.
  • Provide complete Shift Forms during shift change meetings for the best exchange of information.
  • Maintain clean and orderly housekeeping standards in the Inspection area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Scheduled Work Hours per Shift: Rotating 12-hour shifts.
  • Scheduled Work Hours per Week: Rotating Shift Schedule 36-48.
  • Estimated hours per shift the employee is: Sitting-2-3, Standing-6, Walking-2-3.
  • Exposure to high-speed rotating rollers, overhead hoists, equipment with nip points, high noise levels and high temperature processes.
  • Employee must occasionally perform the following movements: Climbing, Crouching, Grasping, Balancing, Crawling, Kneeling, Bending, Reaching, Stooping, Handling, Feeling, Fine Hand Manipulations, Overhead Lifting, Working on Ladders and Pole/Forklift Operation.
  • Employee must frequently perform the following movements: Keying Entries.
  • During a workday an employee can occasionally lift /carry 1-50 pounds. Any weight over 50 pounds requires two people to lift/carry.
