Motor Equipment Operator Laborer

The Town of Middlefield Highway Department has an immediate opening for a Motor Equipment Operator Laborer Class B CDL Minimum Required. Health/Dental/Vision Insurance Provided. NYS Retirement Plan. We are seeking a skilled and reliable MEO/Laborer to operate heavy motor equipment and assist with general labor tasks. The candidate will be responsible for operating machinery such as trucks, loaders, backhoes, and other equipment for construction, maintenance, and repair of roads, facilities, and public works projects. Additional duties include manual labor tasks such as digging, shoveling, loading/unloading materials, and maintaining equipment. The MEO/Laborer will follow safety regulations, perform routine inspections and minor maintenance on equipment, and assist in snow removal or emergency operations as needed. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for coordinating with supervisors and colleagues.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. A valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required, along with prior experience operating motor equipment. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions is necessary. Experience in public works or construction is preferred.

Salary: Starts at $21.50/hour - Based on Union Scale
